Survey Types
Surveys are usually associated with the buying, selling or equity release of your property, or when a property owner has conflicting opinions from other damp and timber specialists. In addition to a quotation services HLS Northwest Ltd provide (see the services tab), experts who hold the Designation Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatment (CSRT) qualification, which is a nationally recognized professional qualification within the industry, they will provide a written survey to meet your needs.
Covering diagnosis and specification of works for dampness, as well as decay and insect attack of timber, the expert is also knowledgeable of relevant health, safety, and legal legislation.

WOODWORM SURVEY

WET / DRY ROT SURVEY
HLS Northwest Ltd provide damp and timber surveys by qualified CSRT surveyors that correctly diagnoses any form of dampness and / or timber decay / infestations.
DAMP SURVEY - What Does it Involve?
We survey the exterior of the property and identify any defects that can lead to dampness. Starting from the chimney pot/lead flashing working down to the external ground levels and sub-floor ventilation.
We then test the ground floor walls and solid floors were necessary for presence of dampness (non-destructive testing).
We inspect the exterior of the property for high ground levels which can lead to damp proof course bridging.
We test the first floor walls for damp ingess paying particular attention to areas at high risk of penetrating damp such as chimney breasts and walls adjacent to external water goods.
We provide a full written damp report along with a sketch plan of the ground floor.

TIMBER SURVEY (WOODWORM AND / OR WET AND DRY ROT) - What does this involve?
We survey the interior of the property and identify any present timber decay or defects that can lead to future timber decay.
We Investigate the presence of timber decay and or infestation to the ground floor, staircase, first or further floors and roof void. All timbers accessible on the day of the survey will be inspected. Floor boards will be lifted where possible with the owner’s permission to inspect voids and timbers beneath.
We will provide a full written timber report along with a sketch plan of the ground floor.
